During these How-To Sessions, Institute for Ethics in Government (IEG) instructors show how they analyze certain entries in annual confidential financial disclosure reports (OGE Form 450s) by modeling their research process for each – showing participants how to navigate OGE’s website and utilize the various resources available to better understand the entries introduced and others they may encounter during the filing season.
After attending a How-To Session, participants will be able to:
(1) Navigate OGE’s website to access its various resources for reviewing OGE Form 450s;
(2) Discern which resource(s) may be best to reference when analyzing certain entries;
(3) Use those resources to conduct technical and conflicts reviews; and
(3) Approach their reviews with more confidence.
In How-To Session 1, IEG Senior Instructor Patrick Shepherd walks through his review of three entries on an annual OGE Form 450: a stock, exchange-traded fund, and virtual currency.
In How-To Session 2, IEG Instructor Megan Kunkle walks through her review of three entries on an annual OGE Form 450: a college savings plan, a defined benefit plan, and a defined contribution plan.
In How-To Session 3, IEG Instructor Anna Wheeler walks through her review of two entries on an annual OGE Form 450: a brokerage account and a family farm. She also shares OGE resources for reviewing trusts.
