Amendments to the Standards of Conduct

OGE amended the Standards of Ethical Conduct for Employees of the Executive Branch (Standards). The final rule, which went into effect on August 15, 2024, updated the Standards based on OGE’s experience gained from application of the regulation since its inception. The final rule also incorporated past interpretive guidance, added and updated regulatory examples, improved clarity, updated citations, and made technical corrections. In this live session held prior to the final rule going into effect, OGE’s then General Counsel, David Apol, and Chief of the Ethics Law and Policy Branch, Seth Jaffe, reviewed these amendments and answered questions.
