Outside Activities: Teaching, Speaking, or Writing “Related to” Official Duties
Description
In this 60 minute distance learning event, ethics officials will receive a brief review of the purpose of section 2635.807, as well as guidance on how to analyze questions of whether an employee’s outside teaching, speaking or writing relates to official duties. The presentation will address the multilayered definition of “relates to official duties,” and will review common examples to assist ethics officials to determine when an employee can get paid for outside teaching, speaking or writing.
This session is designed as an orientation to the regulatory provisions relating to teaching, speaking and writing in a personal capacity.
